We partner with foundation ACT to provide disaster relief in Indonesia’s West Sulawesi

The humanitarian aid group ACT (Aksi Cepat Tanggap) and our company joined forces in the ongoing post-earthquake relief efforts in Indonesia’s West Sulawesi. Due to this natural disaster, over 89,600 inhabitants were initially displaced, 105 killed, and 3369 injured.

West Sulawesi includes the Majene Regency and the Mamuju Regency. The 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in mid-January 2021, and the catastrophe had a severe impact on the regional infrastructure.

A local ACT representative, Dessi Arisanti, commented on the support his task force received from us, stating ‘at least 100 families directly benefited from the food supplies OctaFX provided. Thank you, OctaFX, for contributing to the program and applying real action to help disaster-affected communities here’.

ACT was formed back in 2005 as a non-governmental organisation specialising in emergency response, soon broadening its focus to post-disaster recovery.

The aid volunteers in West Sulawesi often reached the families by foot since the regional infrastructure is still mostly not fit for motorised transport and distribution.

The earthquake impacted 1150 houses, 117 schools, and eight mosques in addition to the casualties and victims acknowledged earlier. Most displaced people continue to live in refugee camps—the aid efforts are ongoing.
